The Sea Horse

I always think that the cat-fish and the dog-fish and the sea cow and so on are a bit of a disappointment when you see them. So it's nice that the sea-horse really does look like a horse, or at least a very gentle and perfect knight of the chessboard. We've found out one very curious thing about sea-horses; did you know it's the father sea-horse, the male, not the female, who carries and looks after the babies. So we've written a lullaby for a sea-horse.

On the morning after her bridal night
The lady sea horse bolts
Leaving her sea horse groom to hatch
Sea fillies and sea colts.

While her husband tends their sea urchin brood
The Sea Mare spends her days
Opening hospital gala fetes at charity matinees,
At Charity Matinees

The sea horse never leaves his young
He would not if he could
While his mare faced wife is out and about busily doing good.
Busily doing good.
