The soundtrack of The Dreamstone was created by the (in)famous Mike Batt, who is best known for "Bright Eyes" (the signature song from the 1979 animated production of Watership Down) and, of course, all those Wombles records. The Dreamstone soundtrack itself is an odd but quite charming mix of classical music, which accompanied the action of the feature-length special and was reused in most of the subsequent episodes, and a selection of loosely-related songs which did not feature in the show. Oddest of all were the celebrities featured on the album; Billy Connolly, Frank Bruno and Ozzy Osbourne sang "The War Song of the Urpneys", Joe Brown and Gary Glitter sang "The Vile Bros. Mountain Band" and Bonnie Tyler dueted with Batt himself on the ballady "Into the Sunset". The show's theme tune, "Better than a Dream" was also sung by Mike Batt.
Tracklist (tracks 1-5 are songs, the rest are instrumental)
A fan and regular visitor to this website has kindly offered his services to make (FREE OF CHARGE) a CD-R copy of the soundtrack, complete with printouts of the front and back artwork from the original CD. This is a non-profit making offer available to visitors of this site. The only request is for £2.00 to cover the cost of the blank CD-R, photo paper/ink and postage/packing. Once again, this is PURELY for the pleasure and enjoyment of sharing amongst the fans of The Dreamstone something that is no longer available, and absolutely no profit whatsoever will be made with this endeavour. To my knowledge there are no plans for a re-release, but if by any chance this does happen, we will no longer offer this copy. If you're interested please e-mail Peter for further details.
